Automated paper acclimatization, one of the best improvements in paper analysis in recent years

A Northern European containerboard producer has replaced its older automatic paper analyzer with a new Valmet Paper Lab. The mill was looking to have acclimatization in paper analysis to improve both the accuracy and deviation of the measurement.

Jujo Thermal, a subsidiary of Nippon Paper Industries situated in Kauttua southwest Finland, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of durable direct thermal papers for labels, tickets & tags and point-of-sales use. The mill operates two paper machines with two off machine coaters and three winders to produce 80,000 tons of paper per year of which more than 95% is exported. As part of its continuous improvement efforts the mill recently installed a Valmet Pulp Analyzer (Valmet MAP) to gain a better understanding of refiner operation and improve pulp quality to PM1.

Mondi Steti PM5 OptiPress Center rebuild

Modular design made the rebuild of the entire press section of PM 5 at Mondi's Štêtí mill very easy. Commissioning and start-up was scheduled for one week only, and after the start-up the mill had sellable sack kraft paper in just three days. With improved dryness resulting in better web runnability and less steam consumption, it is no wonder that the mill is happy with the rebuild concept and co-operation with Valmet.

Improved board machine performance at Cartiere Villa Lagarina

The new Valmet runnability systems at the Cartiere Villa Lagarina mill have significantly reduced web breaks and the subsequent production losses, increasing the reliability of the board machine. The average production speed has increased by more than 150 m/min, and maintenance shutdown intervals have also increased.
