New generation of butterfly valves

Versatility and reliable performance have been driving forces behind the design of our new generation of butterfly valves. Also, the role of sustainability in industry, business and society at large has been a key factor in the development of these products. The engineering behind these valves also brings a new level ease and speed into installation, maintenance and spare parts handling. Find out what makes the new Neldisc and Wafer-Sphere the butterfly valve for any given situation.

It is no surprise that the versatile valves of today are engineered and built to set the standard for modern butterfly valves in the service of a wide range of industries. Today’s technology has its roots on two different continents, reaching as far back as 45 years. Read the article '45 years of butterfly valve expertise' to find out where it all started. Many new features have been introduced over the years, but the fundamental design is still the same today as it was back then. After all these years and several new developments, find out why the Wafer-Sphere is still considered the standard for soft-seated butterfly valves today.

The new generation of Neldisc and Wafer-Sphere butterfly valves are based on the same platform, sharing many design features, modular components and tangible customer benefits. The highest Cv on the market, paired with the low torque requirement make for excellent energy efficiency. The valve design that minimizes fugitive emissions further improves energy efficiency, process yield and overall sustainability. This is what the future of efficient, reliable and sustainable butterfly valves looks like.

Sustainable, yet profitable performance is a result of design and engineering aimed at minimized emissions and reduced size, weight and complexity.

The butterfly valve portfolio lead by its flagship valves – Neldisc™ and Wafer-Sphere™ – offers sustainable process performance. Sustainable, yet profitable performance is a result of design and engineering aimed at minimized emissions and reduced size, weight and complexity. Our reliable valves are designed to deliver long-lasting consistent performance with longer maintenance intervals and fewer shutdowns over the extended valve lifecycle.

Sustainability and process efficiency often go hand in hand. In this case all of the reductions in size, weight, complexity and subsequent energy consumption directly translate into both improved environmental performance and increased process efficiency. By enabling improvements in business performance while meeting ever-stricter environmental regulations, these valves are ushering in the future of better industrial processes.

Designed to eliminate fugitive emissions, our butterfly valves eliminate the leakage of CO2 and other potential greenhouse gasses into the process area and the general atmosphere. This improves both work safety and environmental performance. Also, when you are not losing valuable flow media and pressure through fugitive emissions you are improving your process yield and energy efficiency.

High quality and robust design reflect on valve’s reliability and performance. We interviewed Tommi Bergström, Manager, Engineering Analysis, about the design process behind the new modular butterfly valve platform.

Modularity as a concept allows a high level of standardization while also enabling flexibility so that it can provide the perfect solution for each process. The basic principle of the platform is that we always have a standard valve as a base, so the basic features are there. You can then make decisions based on the needs for your process. With the different choices you can configure multiple solutions to best suit your needs – this is true modularity.
