A year of successful operation – Sillverton Industries enhances production with Valmet’s center press roll
When Sillverton Industries Limited wanted to increase the production speed and overall efficiency of their PM 4 in Muzaffarnagar, India, they turned to Valmet for a solution. Now, after having Valmet’s center press roll together with a matching Valmet Press Roll Cover PD-S in operation for over a year, they say it’s been a success.
Sillverton Industries Limited operates three paper mills in India, producing a wide range of products from writing and printing paper to packaging grades. Over the past years, Sillverton’s Muzaffarnagar mill has been widely modernized with state-of-the-art papermaking technology to further enhance the mill’s production capabilities, efficiency, and product quality. For example, in 2024 Valmet delivered and installed a center press roll, which has now been successfully running for over a year, delivering excellent results.
Center press roll is a critical component in papermaking process
The center press roll plays a pivotal role in dewatering the paper web and ensuring optimal sheet dryness before it enters the drying section. To further reinforce its performance, Valmet supplied the roll with ceramic coating Valmet Press Roll Cover PD-S known for its long and reliable lifetime.

Since its installation, Valmet’s center press roll has provided remarkable operational benefits, including improved sheet release and energy savings. The machine speed has increased from 680 mpm to over 900 mpm. In addition, the roll cover’s durable material and unique design have extended the roll’s operational lifespan, minimizing unplanned production breaks.
