Valmet Circular Chip Storage provides the latest cutting-edge technology for wood-chip storage and reclaiming. This chip storage system operates on the first-in first-out principle, meaning the chip pile is built up at the front and reclaimed from the back. The chips are reclaimed gently from the whole cross section of the pile, which ensures excellent blending and homogenization of the chips while minimizing chip damage. Valmet Circular Chip Storage includes several unique features and allows low operation and maintenance costs, making it a beneficial total investment.

Silos and rotary screw reclaimers

Valmet Rotary Screw Reclaimer is designed for reliable reclaiming of chips, bark or sawdust from storage silos or open piles. It achieves 100 % automated reclaiming from silo storage, minimizing chip damage since no bulldozers or front loaders are needed.

• The cantilever screw reclaimer rotates slowly under the pile, feeding material through a hopper onto the conveyor below.
• The both-end supported reclaimer is utilized in specific cases for large-volume silos.

Reclaim rates can be adjusted by a frequency converter and combined with the first-in first-out principle, this guarantees excellent homogenization of the chips for further processing.

The Rotary Screw Reclaimer features high reliability and a long lifetime, thanks to its simple and extremely strong construction, heavy-duty reclaimer design, and low rotation speed. Additionally, the drive units and other service points are easily accessed, which makes maintenance easy.

Storages with traversing screw reclaimers

Valmet Traversing Screw Reclaimer is designed for the automatic and reliable reclamation of chips, bark or saw dust from open piles. The large reclaiming opening minimizes the need for front loaders and bulldozers in open piles, resulting in minimal chip damage.

• The cantilever screw reclaimer is supported by two tracks: one installed on the service tunnel ceiling and the other on the floor.
• The screw reclaimer specifically designed for high-volume storages is supported on tracks at both ends of the screw. 

Material is reclaimed by the rotating screw onto a conveyor below, while the reclaimer moves slowly along its track. Reclaim rates can be adjusted by a frequency converter, and multiple screw reclaimers can be installed on the same track.

The Traversing Screw Reclaimer offers high reliability and long lifetime thanks to robust construction, heavy-duty design, and low rotation speed. The drive units and other service points are easily accessible, simplifying maintenance.
