Bleaching of chemical pulp
The key success factors in bleaching chemical pulp are effective mixing of bleaching chemicals into the pulp, well-defined retention times in bleaching reactors and barrier washing between bleaching stages. Barrier washing results in low chemical consumption, low effluent flows and the possibility to operate at zero fresh water consumption.
Bale quality system, BQS
Valmet, the global leader in pulp and paper lines, supplies the Bale quality system (BQS) as a supervisory tool designed to keep track of production data and quality parameters for bale handling. BQS is a unique system that tracks each individual bale, bale set and bale unit throughout the production line. The system uses absolute bale position tracking to ensure exceptional reliability of key data.
Fiber flash dryer

OptiSizer Spray sizing
In surface sizing, the size is sprayed on nip rolls through a row of spraying nozzles. Then, the size is transferred to the web in the nip. You can control the amount of size accurately and fast, and there are no consumables due to contactless application, which leads into decreased downtime.
OptiFlo Layering Fourdrinier headbox
OptiFlo Layering Fourdrinier tackles the board makers’ challenges in combining lower basis weights, faster speeds and higher ash contents resulting from the increased use of recycled fiber. This provides excellent layer coverage, considerably lower residual variation in basis weight as well as an excellent formation.

OptiSizer Film offers a functional and innovative design, based on know-how and long experience. Its simple and reliable design results in easy operation, installation and fast initial start-up.
New opportunities with Valmet sizing
The R&D work did not stop after the first OptiSizer Hard was started-up. It was seen as a good place to improve further. There have been a number of pilot trials and the results with a new application method and a new concept combining OptiSizer Hard and OptiCalender Metal Belt seem to be clear.
